Features
- Compact aluminium build — anodised aluminium-alloy housing in white with a black front surround; a small footprint that fits tight counters.
- Ball-bearing slides — smooth, durable ball-bearing guides for everyday opening and closing.
- Flexible capacity — five banknote compartments and eight coin compartments; the coin insert can be lifted out and the partitions can be swung aside to rearrange them.
- Media slot — a slot on the front lets you drop in cheques and other means of payment without opening the drawer.
- 4-function key lock — manual open, electronic (online) open, locked-open and locked-closed.
- Emergency opener — a manual release on the underside opens the drawer if it cannot be opened electronically.
Connections and controls
The underside and front of the drawer carry the following elements:
- RJ12 connector — the serial port used to connect the drawer to a printer or fiscal cash register.
- USB cable slot — a routing slot for the connection cable on the underside of the housing.
- Emergency opener — a manual release on the underside; slide it in the direction of the arrow to open the drawer.
- Media slot — the slot on the front for cheques and other means of payment.
- Key lock — the three-position lock on the front.
Connecting the drawer
The cash drawer is equipped with a standard 6-pin RJ12 plug for direct connection to any EPSON POS printer or Epson-compatible POS equipment. When the receipt finishes printing, the printer or cash register opens the drawer automatically.
Opening the drawer
The key lock has four functions:
- Manual open — turning the key to this position opens the drawer.
- Electronic (online) open — the drawer is opened from the cash register, once it has been connected.
- Locked open — the drawer cannot be opened without the key.
- Locked closed — the drawer cannot be closed without the key.
To reduce the risk of damaging or breaking the key, avoid leaving it in the lock during normal operation.
Removing the money tray
Open the drawer fully. To take out the cash tray, lift the locking handle on the left side and press the locking handle on the right side, then pull the tray out. The removable banknote tray and the removable coin cup lift out separately, and the partitions can be swung aside, so the whole tray can be carried away and emptied.
Maintenance
The cash drawer slides should be cleaned and lubricated periodically. The frequency depends on usage and environment, but the typical recommended interval is every three months.
- Using a dry, lint-free cloth, wipe off old grease and debris from the inner and outer slides. Do not use water or any liquid cleaners.
- With a clean applicator, apply a thin layer of lithium-based bearing grease to the inner and outer slides.
- Cycle the slides back and forth several times to coat the polyurethane rollers properly and distribute the grease evenly.
