The SolidHand-BG03SU holds three monitors of 17 to 27 inches, up to 7 kg each, on one silver post fixed to the desk. The two side screens hang on gas-spring arms that reach up to 748 mm and move with a light push; the third sits on a head on the post between them. Every screen tilts ±40°, turns ±180° to portrait and swivels ±90°. Two USB 3.0 ports in the base bring your computer's USB to the front of the desk.

The monitor screws M-A, M-B and the washers M-C are supplied in three sets — one for each monitor. Steps 2 and 3 are alternatives: the clamp bracket (H) with the clamp (I) for the desk edge, or the grommet plate (M) with the bolts (Q) for a hole in the desktop.

Before you start​

Assembly takes about forty minutes. Prepare the following:

  • A second person — hanging the monitors on the arms is a two-person job
  • A Phillips screwdriver; both Allen keys (4 and 6 mm) and the spanner are in the kit
  • A free desk edge with a desktop 10–90 mm thick, or a desktop 10–80 mm thick with a hole for the grommet mount
  • A check that each monitor weighs no more than 7 kg and has VESA 75 × 75 or 100 × 100 holes

Check that you have received all the parts listed above before you start. If anything is missing or damaged, contact us before assembling the arm.

Assembly​

Step 1 — Prepare the base and fit the post​

  1. Open the cover of the base (A) as the drawing shows and lead the two USB cables out through the opening.
  2. Put the post (F) into the base and fix it from inside with the three M6 × 16 screws (R), using the 4 mm Allen key (V).

Step 2 — Fix the base to the desk with the clamp​

This is the first of two mounting options; use it when the desk has a free edge. The bracket has two positions, for a thinner and for a thicker desktop.

  1. Screw the clamp bracket (H) to the base with the M6 × 12 screws (S), using the 4 mm Allen key (V), then close the cover of the base and secure it with the two M4 × 8 screws (U).
  2. Slide the clamp (I) onto the bracket and fix it with the M6 × 10 screws (T): the upper holes give a range of 10–60 mm, the lower ones 40–90 mm.
  3. Put the assembly on the desk edge and tighten the clamp screw firmly against the underside of the desktop.
  4. Clip the cable cover (K) onto the bracket over the USB cables.

Step 3 — Or fix the base through a hole in the desktop​

Use this option instead of step 2 when the mount is to stand away from the desk edge. The desktop must be 10–80 mm thick with a hole for the bolts.

  1. Screw the grommet plate (M) to the base with the M6 × 12 screws (S) and put the two grommet bolts (Q) through it.
  2. Close the cover of the base and secure it with the two M4 × 8 screws (U).
  3. If the desktop has no hole, drill one as the drawing shows, then pass the bolts through, fit the oval washers (N), the washers (O) and the nuts (P) from below and tighten them with the spanner (X).

Step 4 — Fit the collar and the cap​

  1. Slide the collar (G) and then the cap (L) onto the post (F) from the top.
  2. Set the collar at the height you want the arms to sit and tighten its screw with the 6 mm Allen key (W).

Step 5 — Fit the arms​

  1. Slide the arms (B) onto the post — two on each side — and lock each one with its screw, using the 4 mm Allen key (V).
  2. Fit a gas-spring arm (C) to the end of each pair of arms and lock it the same way.
  3. Press the cable clips (J) into the channels of the arms; they will hold the monitor cables later.

Step 6 — Fit the head for the middle monitor​

Slide the head (D) onto the post above the arms and tighten its screw with the 6 mm Allen key (W). The middle monitor will hang on this head.

Step 7 — Screw the VESA plates to the monitors​

Lay each monitor face down on a soft, clean surface and fit a plate (E) to its VESA holes — 75 × 75 mm or 100 × 100 mm.

  1. Use the M4 × 12 (M-A) or M5 × 12 (M-B) screws with the washers (M-C), whichever thread fits the monitor.
  2. Pick the screw length that neither bottoms out nor is too short — the drawing shows the right and the wrong result.
  3. Tighten the four screws evenly with a screwdriver and do not overtighten them.

Step 8 — Hang the monitors​

  1. With a second person holding the monitor, hook its VESA plate (E) onto the head of the arm and let it seat.
  2. Turn the latch on the head from Unlock to Lock, as the inset shows, so the plate cannot slide off.
  3. Repeat with the other two monitors.

Do not let go of a screen before its latch is in the Lock position.

Step 9 — Balance the gas springs​

Each gas spring has to match the weight of the monitor on it. When it does, the screen stays wherever you leave it and moves with a light push. Adjust with the monitors mounted:

  1. If an arm drops, turn its adjustment screw towards +; if it rises, turn it towards −.
  2. Work in small steps and check the arm through its whole range after each turn.
  3. Repeat on the second gas-spring arm.

Do not load an arm beyond the rated 7 kg and keep clear of the moving parts while the spring is being adjusted.

Step 10 — Route the cables​

  1. Lay the monitor cables in the channels of the arms and press them into the clips (J) — the drawing shows the right and the wrong way.
  2. Close the channel covers along the arms, then bring the cables down the post to the desk.

Step 11 — Set the working position​

The last drawing shows every range the mount offers. Set the screens by hand:

  1. Rotation at the post — ±135°
  2. Arm rotation — ±180° at the joints, ±90° at the head
  3. Screen rotation — ±180°, so any screen can be turned to portrait
  4. Screen tilt — +40° to −40°

If a screen does not stay at the angle you set, tighten the screws marked a and b on its head with a screwdriver, as the lower drawing shows.

Using the arm​

Once the monitors hang on the arms and the springs are balanced, every adjustment is made by hand:

  • Height — the side screens rise and fall on the gas-spring arms
  • Reach — up to 748 mm from the post
  • Rotation at the post — ±135°; arm rotation ±180°, head ±90°
  • Screen rotation — +180° to −180°, including portrait
  • Screen tilt — +40° to −40°
  • USB — two USB 3.0 ports in the base, powered from the computer

Safety instructions​

Failure to read, understand and follow all instructions can result in serious personal injury or damage to equipment.

  • Using the mount with a load heavier than the rated 7 kg per monitor can make it unstable and lead to injury.
  • Follow the assembly instructions exactly. Incorrect installation can cause damage or serious personal injury.
  • Use suitable protective equipment and the right tools. The product should be installed by professionals.
  • Make sure the mounting surface will safely carry the combined weight of the equipment and of all the supplied parts.
  • Use the supplied mounting screws and do not overtighten them.
  • The product contains small parts that can be a choking hazard if swallowed. Keep them away from children.
  • The product is intended for indoor use only.

Frequently asked questions​

What desk thickness does the SolidHand-BG03SU clamp support?
The clamp is fixed to the bracket in one of two positions: the upper holes take a desktop of 10–60 mm, the lower ones 40–90 mm. For other desks use the grommet mount, which works with a desktop of 10–80 mm and needs a hole — an existing cable hole will do.
Can I use monitors heavier than 7 kg?
Each arm is rated for a monitor of up to 7 kg. Above that the gas spring drifts and the mount loses stability. For heavier screens choose a mount with a higher capacity from our monitor mounts range.
Does the USB 3.0 hub require a separate power source?
No. The two USB 3.0 ports in the base are powered directly from your computer through the supplied cable; no power adapter is needed.
Can I turn a monitor to portrait?
Yes. Every head turns ±180°, so any of the three screens can be set to portrait — useful for documents, code or long web pages.
Why does an arm drop or rise on its own?
The gas spring tension does not match the weight of that monitor. Turn the adjustment screw on the arm towards + if it drops and towards − if it rises, in small steps, until the screen stays put. See step 9.
