Dual monitor arm with mechanical spring, SolidHand-BS02

GTIN: 5907614666675 · SKU: SolidHand-BS02

The SolidHand-BS02 holds two monitors of 17 to 32 inches, 2 to 7 kg each, on one white base fixed to the desk. Both screens hang on spring-assisted arms that reach up to 479 mm and move up and down with a light push. Each screen tilts ±40°, turns ±90° to portrait, and the arms swing ±180° around the base — or ±90° if you leave the stop screw in. The base clamps to the desk edge or bolts through a hole in the desktop.

The monitor screws M-A, M-B and the washers M-C come in two sets — one per monitor. Steps 1 and 2 are alternatives: the bracket (E) with the clamp (D) for the desk edge, or the plate (G) with the bolt (I) for a hole in the desktop.

Before you start

Assembly takes about thirty minutes. Have ready:

  • A second person — the monitors are hung by two people
  • A cross-head screwdriver; both Allen keys (4 and 5 mm) and the spanner are in the box
  • A free desk edge with a 10–85 mm desktop, or a 10–70 mm desktop with a Ø 10–60 mm hole for grommet mounting
  • A drill with a Ø 10 mm (3/8") bit if the desktop has no hole yet
  • A check that each monitor weighs 2 to 7 kg and has VESA 75 × 75 or 100 × 100 holes
caution

Before you start, check that you have received every part listed above. If anything is missing or damaged, contact us before assembly.

Assembly

Step 1 — Fix the base to the desk with the clamp

The first of two mounting methods; choose it if the desk has a free edge. The bracket has two positions — for a thinner and a thicker desktop.

  1. Screw the bracket (E) to the base (F) with two M6 × 12 screws (J) using the 4 mm Allen key (N).
  2. For a desktop 10–55 mm thick, leave the bracket in its upper position, slide the clamp (D) onto it ❶ and lock it with the screw ❷.
  3. For a desktop 50–85 mm thick, move the bracket down by 6 mm first — the dashed detail shows the screw moved to the next hole — then fit the clamp ❷ and lock it ❸.
  4. Set the base on the desk edge and turn the clamp knob until it sits firmly against the underside of the desktop.
Step 1: bracket E screwed to base F with two M6 × 12 screws (J) and the 4 mm Allen key (N) Step 1: clamp D fitted for a 10–55 mm desktop, and the dashed detail showing bracket E moved down by 6 mm Step 1: clamp D fitted for a 50–85 mm desktop and tightened against the underside of the desktop

Step 2 — Or fix the base through the desktop

This variant replaces step 1 when the mount has to stand away from the edge. The desktop must be 10–70 mm thick with a Ø 10–60 mm hole.

  1. Screw the plate (G) to the base (F) with two M6 × 12 screws (J) using the 4 mm Allen key (N).
  2. If the desktop already has a grommet hole of Ø 10–60 mm, use it; otherwise drill a Ø 10 mm (3/8") hole through the desktop.
  3. Pass the through bolt (I) down through the hole in the middle of the base and through the desktop.
  4. From underneath, fit the backing plate (H), the washer (K) and the nut (L), and tighten them with the spanner (P).
Step 2: grommet plate G screwed to base F with two M6 × 12 screws (J) Step 2: a desktop 10–70 mm thick with an existing Ø 10–60 mm hole, or drilling a new Ø 10 mm hole Step 2: through bolt I passed through the base and the desktop and secured underneath with plate H, washer K and nut L, tightened with spanner P

Step 3 — Fit the arms

  1. Drop one upper arm (B) into each post of the base and lock it with the set screw using the 4 mm Allen key (N) — the detail shows both screws.
  2. Press the cap (M) into the hole in the middle of the base.
  3. Slide a spring arm (A) into the socket at the end of each upper arm and lock it the same way.
note

If you mounted the base through the desktop, the hole in the middle is taken by the bolt (I) and the cap (M) is not used.

Step 3: upper arms B dropped into the posts of the base and locked with the 4 mm Allen key, cap M in the middle of the base, and spring arm A slid into the end of the upper arm

Step 4 — Screw the VESA plates to the monitors

Lay each monitor face down on a soft, clean surface and place a plate (C) over its VESA holes — 75 × 75 mm or 100 × 100 mm. The TOP arrow on the plate points to the top of the screen.

  1. Use the M4 × 12 (M-A) or M5 × 12 (M-B) screws with the washers (M-C), depending on the thread in the monitor.
  2. Pick the screw length that neither bottoms out nor falls short — the drawing shows the correct result and the two wrong ones.
  3. Tighten the four screws evenly with a screwdriver and do not overtighten them.
Step 4: VESA plate C screwed to the monitor with the M-A or M-B screws and M-C washers, with the correct and the two wrong screw lengths

Step 5 — Hang the monitors

  1. With a second person holding the monitor, hook its VESA plate (C) onto the head of the arm until it seats.
  2. Turn the latch on the head from Unlock to Lock, as the detail shows, so the plate cannot slide off.
  3. Repeat with the second monitor.
caution

Do not let go of a screen until its latch is in the Lock position.

Step 5: VESA plate hooked onto the head of the arm and the latch turned from Unlock to Lock

Step 6 — Balance the springs

Each spring has to match the weight of its monitor. Then the screen stays where you leave it and moves with a light push. Adjust with the monitors mounted and the arm held horizontal:

  1. Slide the cover off the arm to reach the adjustment screw, and use the 5 mm Allen key (O).
  2. If the arm drops, turn the screw clockwise — towards + — until the arm stays horizontal.
  3. If the arm rises, turn the screw anticlockwise — towards — until the arm stays horizontal.
  4. Work in small steps, then slide the cover back on and repeat on the second arm.
caution

Keep the arm horizontal while adjusting, do not overtighten the screw, and never let the red line of the tension indicator move past the and + marks.

Step 6: balancing the spring with the 5 mm Allen key under the arm cover, with the tension indicator and the correct horizontal arm position

Step 7 — Route the cables

Open the covers along the arms, lay the monitor cables in the channels and press the covers back on from the top — the drawing shows the right and the wrong way to close them. Then run the cables down past the base to the desk.

Step 7: monitor cables laid in the channels of both arms, with the correct and incorrect way of pressing the covers back on

Step 8 — Set how far the arms swing

A stop screw in the base decides how far the arms can swing around it. Use the 4 mm Allen key (N):

  1. Leave the stop screw tightened — do not overtighten it — and each arm swings ±90°, so the two screens stay side by side.
  2. Remove or loosen the stop screw and each arm swings ±180°, all the way round with no stop.
Step 8: the stop screw in the base tightened for ±90° of arm swing and removed for ±180°

Step 9 — Set the working position

The screens are set by hand: rotate ±90° to portrait, tilt +40° to −40°, and swing the arms on their joints. If a screen does not hold the angle you set, tighten the screws shown in the drawing:

  1. For rotation — tighten the two screws on the head with a screwdriver.
  2. For tilt — tighten the screw in the middle of the head with the 4 mm Allen key (N).
  3. For the sideways swing — tighten the two screws at the base from above with the 4 mm Allen key (N), as the bottom drawing shows.
Step 9: the screws that set how firmly the screen holds its rotation and tilt, and the two screws at the base tightened from above with the 4 mm Allen key

Using the mount

Once the monitors are hanging and the springs are balanced, everything is set by hand:

  • Height — both screens rise and fall on the spring-assisted arms
  • Reach — up to 479 mm from the base
  • Arm swing — ±180°, or ±90° with the stop screw left in
  • Screen rotation — +90° to −90°, portrait included
  • Screen tilt — +40° to −40°

Safety instructions

Failure to read, understand and follow the instructions may result in serious injury or damage to equipment.

  • A load heavier than the permitted 7 kg per monitor can make the mount unstable and lead to injury.
  • Follow the assembly instructions exactly. Incorrect installation may cause damage or serious personal injury.
  • Make sure the supporting surface safely carries the combined weight of the equipment and of all the supplied mounting parts.
  • Use the supplied mounting screws and do not overtighten them.
  • The product contains small parts that pose a choking hazard if swallowed. Keep them away from children.
  • The product is intended for indoor use only. Using it outdoors may lead to product failure and personal injury.

Frequently asked questions

How thick a desktop does the SolidHand-BS02 clamp take?
The clamp bracket screws to the base in one of two positions: the upper one takes a desktop 10–55 mm thick, and moving the bracket down by 6 mm takes 50–85 mm. For other desks use the grommet mounting, which works with a desktop 10–70 mm thick and needs a Ø 10–60 mm hole — an existing cable grommet will do.
Can I use monitors heavier than 7 kg?
Each arm is rated for a monitor of 2 to 7 kg. Above that the spring gives way and the mount loses stability; below 2 kg the spring pushes the screen up even at its lowest tension. For heavier screens choose a mount with a higher capacity from our range.
Why does the arm drop or rise on its own?
The spring tension does not match the weight of that monitor. Hold the arm horizontal, slide the cover off and turn the adjustment screw with the 5 mm Allen key — clockwise towards + if the arm drops, anticlockwise towards − if it rises — until the arm stays put. See step 6.
Can I turn a monitor to portrait?
Yes. Each head rotates ±90°, so either screen can be set upright — useful for documents, code or long web pages.
How do I stop the two arms from swinging into each other?
Leave the stop screw in the base tightened. Each arm then swings ±90° and the screens stay side by side. Removing or loosening that screw frees the full ±180° swing. See step 8.
Does the SolidHand-BS02 have USB ports?
No — this model has no built-in USB hub. If you need USB sockets at the front of the desk, pick a mount from our range that lists built-in USB ports in its specification.
