Dual monitor arm with two USB ports in the base, SolidHand-CS02U

GTIN: 5907614666682 · SKU: SolidHand-CS02U

The SolidHand-CS02U carries two monitors of 17 to 32 inches, 2 to 9 kg each, on one matte black base fixed to the desk. Both screens hang on spring-assisted arms that reach up to 465 mm and sit 245 to 540 mm above the desktop. Each screen tilts ±40°, turns ±180° to portrait, and the arms swing ±90° around the base. Two USB 3.0 ports built into the base bring the computer's USB sockets to the front of the desk.

Before you start

Prepare the following before you fix the mount to the desk:

  • A second person — hanging a monitor on the arm is a two-person job
  • A screwdriver and the Allen keys supplied with the mount
  • A free desk edge with a desktop 10–80 mm thick for the clamp, or a desktop 10–45 mm thick with a hole for the grommet mount
  • A free USB port on the computer and the USB cable supplied with the mount, if you want to use the ports in the base
  • A check that each monitor weighs 2 to 9 kg and has VESA 75 × 75 or 100 × 100 holes
caution

Make sure you have received all the parts listed in the component list before you start the installation. If anything is missing or damaged, contact us before assembling the mount.

Mounting to the desk

The base is fixed to the desk in one of two ways. Both are prepared in the kit; choose the one that suits your desktop:

  • Desk clamp — for a free desk edge with a desktop 10–80 mm thick. No drilling is required and the mount can be moved at any time.
  • Grommet mount — through a hole in the desktop, for a desktop 10–45 mm thick. It gives a flush installation at any point of the desk; an existing cable grommet can be used.
  • Whichever method you use, tighten the fixing firmly and check that the base does not move on the desk before you hang the monitors.
caution

Make sure the supporting surface can safely carry the combined weight of the mount, both monitors and all mounting hardware. Follow the assembly instructions exactly — incorrect installation can damage the mount or cause serious personal injury. Use the supplied screws and do not overtighten them.

The USB ports in the base

The base holds a 2-port USB 3.0 hub. It has no power supply of its own — it passes the computer's USB through to the front of the desk:

  • Connect the supplied cable from the base to a free USB port on the computer; the two sockets in the front of the base then work like any other USB 3.0 port.
  • Use them for a keyboard, mouse, headset, memory stick or a charging cable, without reaching behind the computer.
  • The sockets are covered by snap-off plates — remove them only on the side you actually want to use.
  • Route the USB cable along the arm together with the monitor cables so nothing hangs loose over the desk edge.

Movement ranges

Once the monitors are hanging on the arms, every position is set by hand:

  • Height — the VESA heads sit 245 to 540 mm above the desktop
  • Reach — up to 465 mm from the base; 105 mm from the base to the arm, then 210 mm and 303–355 mm of arm
  • Arm rotation — ±90° around the base, ±180° at the joints
  • Screen rotation — +180° to −180°, so either screen can be turned to portrait independently
  • Screen tilt — +40° to −40°
  • USB — two USB 3.0 ports in the base, powered by the computer

Safety instructions

Failure to read, understand and follow all instructions can result in serious personal injury or damage to equipment.

  • Using the mount with a load heavier than the rated 9 kg per arm can make it unstable and lead to injury.
  • Follow the assembly instructions exactly. Incorrect installation can damage the mount or cause serious personal injury.
  • Make sure the supporting surface will safely carry the combined weight of the equipment and of all the supplied mounting parts.
  • Use the supplied mounting screws and do not overtighten them — overtightening can damage the mount or the mounted equipment.
  • The product contains small parts that can be a choking hazard if swallowed. Keep them away from children.
  • The product is intended for indoor use only, in dry rooms. Outdoor use can lead to failure of the product and to personal injury.
  • Do not expose the mount to water, damp or extreme temperatures.

Care and storage

  • Read the manual through before you use the mount for the first time, so that you know the device is fixed correctly and ready to use.
  • Take care while assembling the mount, especially when using tools to tighten the screws. Use suitable assembly equipment to avoid accidental damage.
  • Do not use additional tools on the mount or modify components that are not supplied in the kit.
  • If the mount is not going to be used for a longer time, store it in a dry, cool place, away from damp and heat sources.

Frequently asked questions

What is the VESA standard and does my monitor support it?
VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) defines a standard pattern of four mounting holes on the back of a monitor. The SolidHand-CS02U supports VESA 75 × 75 mm and 100 × 100 mm, which covers the vast majority of monitors from 17 to 32 inches. To check your monitor, look at its rear panel for four threaded holes arranged in a square — the manual of the monitor lists them as 75 × 75 or 100 × 100.
How much weight can the SolidHand-CS02U hold per arm?
Each arm is rated for a monitor weighing 2 to 9 kg. Most 17–32 inch monitors weigh between 3 and 8 kg, so the mount covers the typical range. Below 2 kg the spring pushes the screen up even at its lowest tension; above 9 kg the arm sinks and the mount loses stability.
Do the USB ports need a separate power supply?
No. The two USB 3.0 sockets in the base are fed straight from the computer through the supplied cable, so no mains adapter is needed. They pass the computer's own USB ports through to the front of the desk.
Do I need to drill into my desk to install the mount?
Not necessarily. The mount offers two options: a clamp that grips the desk edge without drilling, for a desktop 10–80 mm thick, or a grommet mount through a hole in the desktop, for a desktop 10–45 mm thick. The clamp is the easier method and works on most standard desks.
Can I put one monitor in portrait and the other in landscape?
Yes. Each arm and head moves independently, so one screen can stay in landscape for general work while the other is turned to portrait for documents, coding or reading — both on the same mount at the same time.
