The SolidHand-FS02 holds two monitors of 17 to 32 inches, up to 9 kg each, on two independent spring-assisted arms. Each screen is raised, lowered, tilted, swivelled and turned to portrait by hand, without tools. The base clamps to the edge of the desk or bolts through a hole in the desktop; the cables run inside the arms.

The monitor screws M-A, M-B and the washers M-C are supplied in two sets — one for each monitor.

Before you start

Assembly takes about half an hour. Prepare the following:

  • A second person — hanging the monitors on the arms is a two-person job
  • A Phillips screwdriver for the monitor screws; the Allen keys and the spanner are in the kit
  • For grommet mounting on a desk without a hole: a drill with a Ø10 mm (3/8") bit
  • A check that both monitors are within 2–9 kg and have VESA 75 × 75 or 100 × 100 holes, and that the desktop is solid enough to carry the arm with both screens
caution

Check that you have received all the parts listed above before you start. If anything is missing or damaged, contact us before assembling the arm.

Assembly

Step 1 — Fit the rubber pads

Turn the base (C) over and press the four rubber pads (M) into the round recesses on its underside. They keep the base from scratching the desk and from sliding.

Step 2 — Fix the base to the desk

The base is fixed in one of two ways. The clamp needs a free desk edge and leaves no trace; the grommet mount needs a hole in the desktop and gives a flush, permanent installation.

Clamp mounting

  1. Screw the clamp bracket (F) to the underside of the base (C) with the three M6 × 12 screws (J), using the 4 mm Allen key (O).
  2. Screw the two M6 × 10 screws (I) into the bracket as shown in the drawing, at least 6 mm deep, with the same key.
  3. Assemble the clamp (E) for the thickness of your desktop: as supplied it spans 10–45 mm; for 40–85 mm unscrew the knob, turn the jaw over and screw the knob back in, as the inset shows.
  4. Put the base on the edge of the desk, slide the clamp onto the bracket from below (1), tighten the knob firmly against the underside of the desktop and lock the clamp with its screw using the Allen key (O) (2).
  5. Clip the cover (G) onto the clamp. Its holders keep the two Allen keys within reach.

Grommet mounting

  1. Pass the M8 × 105 bolt (K) through the grommet plate (H) and screw the plate to the underside of the base with the three M6 × 12 screws (J), using the 4 mm Allen key (O).
  2. The desktop must be 10–80 mm thick with a hole of Ø10–60 mm. If there is no hole, drill one with a Ø10 mm (3/8") bit.
  3. Put the base on the desk with the bolt through the hole. Underneath, slide the plate of the clamp (E) onto the bolt — the inset shows how to take the clamp apart — then the washer (N) and the M8 nut (L). Tighten the nut with the spanner (Q).

Step 3 — Fit the arms

  1. Set the swivel stop on each post. With the stop screw in the position shown at the top the arm turns freely; moved to the second hole with the 4 mm Allen key (O) it limits the swivel to ±90°, so the arm cannot be swung behind the desk.
  2. Slide the lower arms (B) onto the posts and lock each one with the screw on its side, using the Allen key (O).
  3. Slide the upper arms (A) into the lower arms and lock them the same way.
tip

If the arms are to hang over the rear edge of the desk at any time, leave the stops off — but read the caution in step 7 first.

Step 4 — Mount the monitors

  1. Screw a VESA plate (D) to the back of each monitor with four screws and the washers (M-C): M4 × 12 (M-A) or M5 × 12 (M-B), whichever fits the thread in the monitor. The TOP mark on the plate points up.
  2. Pick the screw length that neither bottoms out nor is too short — the drawing shows the right and the wrong result.
  3. With a second person holding the monitor, slide the plate down onto the VESA joint of the arm until it seats.
  4. Push the slider on the joint to Lock. To take the monitor off later, push it back to Unlock.
caution

Never hang a monitor with the slider left on Unlock. Check that the plate has seated on the joint before letting go of the screen.

Step 5 — Balance the arm

The spring in each arm has to match the weight of the monitor. When it does, the screen stays wherever you leave it and moves with a light push. Adjust the tension with the monitor mounted:

  1. Hold the arm horizontal — the tension indicator on top of the arm shows the setting between and +.
  2. Pull the cap off the end of the arm to reach the adjustment screw.
  3. If the arm drops, turn the screw clockwise (towards +) with the 5 mm Allen key (P) until the arm stays horizontal. If the arm rises, turn it counter-clockwise (towards −).
  4. Put the cap back on.
caution

Keep the arm horizontal while adjusting, and ask for help if needed — a loaded arm that springs up or drops can damage the monitor. Do not overtighten, and never let the red indicator line move beyond the − or + mark; that damages the mechanism.

Step 6 — Route the cables

Open the cable cover on each arm by pressing its latch — do not pry the cover off with force — lay the monitor cables in the channel and close the cover. Bring the cables down through the channel in the post and fix them in the clip at the base.

Step 7 — Position the monitors

Swing the arms and set the screens where you want them. Do not swing the arms beyond the rear edge of the desk — with the weight of the monitors behind the edge the desk can tip over.

Step 8 — Tilt and rotation

  1. Tilt each screen up or down by hand. If the monitor does not stay at the angle you set, tighten the central screw of the VESA joint with the Allen key.
  2. Turn the screen to portrait by hand. If it turns too freely, tighten the two screws on the joint with a screwdriver.
  3. Swivel the screen left or right by hand.
  4. Store the two Allen keys in the holders on the clamp cover, ready for the next adjustment.

Using the arm

Once the springs are balanced, every adjustment is made by hand:

  • Height — lift or lower the screen; the spring holds it where you leave it
  • Reach — up to 468 mm from the post
  • Arm swivel — ±90° at the post and at each arm joint
  • Screen tilt — ±40°
  • Screen rotation — ±180°, including 90° to portrait (pivot)
  • Each arm is independent — the monitors can differ in size and weight, as long as each is within 2–9 kg

Safety instructions

Failure to read, understand and follow all instructions can result in serious personal injury or damage to equipment.

  • Using the arm with a load above the rated 9 kg per monitor makes it unstable and can lead to injury.
  • Follow the assembly instructions exactly. Incorrect installation can cause damage or serious personal injury.
  • Make sure the desk can safely carry the combined weight of the arm, both monitors and all mounting hardware.
  • Use the supplied mounting screws and do not overtighten them.
  • The product contains small parts that can be a choking hazard if swallowed. Keep them away from children.
  • The product is intended for indoor use only. Outdoor use can lead to failure and injury.
  • Do not swing the arms behind the rear edge of the desk — the desk can tip.
  • Check at regular intervals that the clamp, the arms and the monitors are secure.

Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum monitor weight supported by the SolidHand-FS02?
Each arm carries a monitor of 2 to 9 kg. Keep every monitor within that range — it is what the mechanical spring is designed for, and what keeps the screen stable in every position.
Does the SolidHand-FS02 fit my monitor?
It fits monitors with standard VESA 75 × 75 mm or 100 × 100 mm holes and a diagonal of 17 to 32 inches. Most desktop monitors sold today meet these requirements — check the back of your monitor for the VESA pattern.
Can I rotate the monitor to portrait orientation?
Yes. The pivot function lets you turn each monitor 90° to portrait — useful for coding, reading long documents or any work that benefits from a tall screen.
How is the arm attached to the desk?
Two ways, both in the kit: a desk clamp for desktops 10–85 mm thick, and a grommet mount through a hole in the desktop (10–80 mm thick, hole Ø10–60 mm) with the M8 bolt, washer and nut.
Why does the arm drop or rise on its own?
The spring tension does not match the weight of the monitor. Hold the arm horizontal and turn the adjustment screw with the 5 mm Allen key — clockwise if the arm drops, counter-clockwise if it rises — until it stays put. See step 5.
