Industrial UHF RFID tag, 865–868 MHz, resistant to high temperatures and chemicals, Tag-U8-3002

GTIN: 5906935200872 · SKU: Tag-U8-3002

The Tag-U8-3002 is a black industrial UHF RFID tag in a PEEK housing, designed for extreme industrial conditions such as high temperatures, contact with acids and alkalis, and ultrasonic cleaning. It withstands −40°C to +150°C in operation and up to +250°C in storage, is rated IP68/IP69K and resists compression up to 150 MPa. It works in the EU 865–868 MHz and US 902–928 MHz bands, has an NXP UCODE 8 chip and is read from 3 m with a handheld reader up to 6 m with a fixed reader. It is mounted on metal surfaces through four holes and suits asset tracking in the automotive, oil and gas and mining industries.

General instructions

Before using the RFID tags for the first time, read this manual carefully to make sure they have been installed and configured correctly.

RFID tag usage rules

The Tag-U8-3002 is a specialised tag — designed to work in harsh conditions, e.g. more resistant to high temperatures, shocks, chemicals or water. Fasten it to a metal surface through the four mounting holes; the tag keeps its reading range on metal, where ordinary RFID tags lose it, and withstands ultrasonic cleaning, paint curing ovens and autoclaves within its temperature range.

Protection against damage

  • RFID tags are passive devices and need no power supply. Protect them against mechanical damage to keep them reliable.
  • Use specialised tags as intended and in suitable conditions to ensure they work correctly.

Protection against interference

  • Electromagnetic interference: RFID tags can be susceptible to electromagnetic interference, so do not store or use them near strong sources of interference, such as electronic devices that generate strong electromagnetic fields.
  • Reading data: to ensure optimal reading, store the tags so that nothing blocks the radio signal — for example, do not store them in metal containers that can interfere with the signal.

Maintenance and cleaning

Store and operate specialised tags in line with the manufacturer's recommendations for use in harsh conditions.

Storage

  • If the RFID tags will not be used for a long time, store them in a dry, cool place, away from strong electromagnetic fields.
  • Avoid storing the tags in places with extreme temperatures or humidity, or where they may be mechanically damaged, e.g. crushed.

Following these rules helps keep RFID tags safe to use and increases their durability and reliability.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Tag-U8-3002 withstand ultrasonic cleaning?
Yes. The PEEK material and IP69K rating make the U8-3002 suitable for ultrasonic cleaning processes used in automotive and industrial manufacturing. The tag maintains full functionality after repeated cleaning cycles.
What temperature does the Tag-U8-3002 handle?
The operating temperature range is −40°C to +150°C. During storage, the tag tolerates temperatures from −60°C to +250°C. This makes it suitable for paint curing ovens, autoclaves and high-temperature manufacturing lines.
Is the U8-3002 suitable for use on metal surfaces?
Yes. The U8-3002 is specifically designed for mounting on metal surfaces. Its on-metal antenna compensates for the signal-dampening effect of metal, delivering a read range of up to 3 m (handheld) and 6 m (fixed reader) even when directly attached to metallic parts.
What industries use the Tag-U8-3002?
Typical applications include automotive (tracking metal components through wash and paint processes), oil and gas (asset tracking in corrosive environments), mining (equipment identification under mechanical stress), and any industry requiring chemically resistant, long-life asset labels.
