Long-range UHF RFID tag, 865–868 MHz, for metal surfaces, Tag-U8-7525

GTIN: 5906935200841 · SKU: Tag-U8-7525

The Tag-U8-7525 is a black, long-range UHF RFID tag built as a PCB plate, designed for mounting on metal surfaces. It is fastened with two 4 mm holes and keeps its reading range in direct contact with metal, where ordinary RFID tags lose it. It works in the EU 865–868 MHz and US 902–928 MHz bands, has an NXP UCODE 8 chip and is read from up to 6.6 m with a handheld reader and up to 10.3 m with a fixed reader. It is rated IP68 and suits asset tracking of metal equipment, containers and machinery.

General instructions

Before using the RFID tags for the first time, read this manual carefully to make sure they have been installed and configured correctly.

RFID tag usage rules

The Tag-U8-7525 is a specialised tag — designed to work in harsh conditions, e.g. more resistant to high temperatures, shocks or water. Fasten it to a metal surface through the two mounting holes; the PCB construction keeps the reading range on metal, where ordinary RFID tags lose it, so the tag reaches up to 10.3 m with a fixed reader.

Protection against damage

  • RFID tags are passive devices and need no power supply. Protect them against mechanical damage to keep them reliable.
  • Use specialised tags as intended and in suitable conditions to ensure they work correctly.

Protection against interference

  • Electromagnetic interference: RFID tags can be susceptible to electromagnetic interference, so do not store or use them near strong sources of interference, such as electronic devices that generate strong electromagnetic fields.
  • Reading data: to ensure optimal reading, store the tags so that nothing blocks the radio signal — for example, do not store them in metal containers that can interfere with the signal.

Maintenance and cleaning

Store and operate specialised tags in line with the manufacturer's recommendations for use in harsh conditions.

Storage

  • If the RFID tags will not be used for a long time, store them in a dry, cool place, away from strong electromagnetic fields.
  • Avoid storing the tags in places with extreme temperatures or humidity, or where they may be mechanically damaged, e.g. crushed.

Following these rules helps keep RFID tags safe to use and increases their durability and reliability.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Tag-U8-7525 be used on metal surfaces?
Yes. The Tag-U8-7525 is specifically designed for mounting on metallic surfaces. Its PCB construction provides excellent RF performance even when in direct contact with metal, achieving read ranges of up to 10.3 m with a stationary UHF RFID reader.
What chip does the Tag-U8-7525 use?
The tag uses the NXP UCODE 8 chip, which provides 128-bit EPC memory, 96-bit TID memory, up to 100,000 write cycles, and data retention of up to 50 years.
Is the tag compatible with standard UHF RFID readers?
Yes. The tag operates in the globally accepted UHF RFID bands — 865–868 MHz for Europe and 902–928 MHz for the United States — and is compatible with any standard EPC Gen2 / ISO 18000-63 UHF RFID reader.
