Offline recorders — CTR and FTR series
CTR and FTR are HDWR's standalone working time recorders. They are designed for offices, workshops and shop floors where a simple, self-contained device is preferred over a networked solution. Plug the unit in and it is ready to use — no host computer, no software install, no cloud account.
When to pick offline
- No IT setup required — the device is its own server
- Privacy by design — data stays on the device until you export it
- Simple bookkeeping — generated Excel reports go straight into payroll
- Custom working hours — define non-standard schedules per employee
- Door control — optional electric-lock wiring on CTR10 / CTR12 models
Data export
The device generates the report itself — no external software is needed:
- Plug a USB flash drive (or external USB drive) into the recorder's USB port.
- Select the report type on-device — all logins, per-employee, or a date range.
- The recorder writes an Excel file to the drive. Available report templates include attendance summaries, attendance registers, late / early-leave tables, and holiday schedules.
- Open the file on any computer for review or payroll integration.
Offline recorder FAQ
Do I need to install any software to use a CTR or FTR recorder?
No. CTR and FTR recorders have built-in software, so they are ready to use the moment you plug them in. There is no driver, no PC application and no cloud account to set up. (If you later upgrade to a TimeLok device, that one does use the BeepClock cloud app — but the CTR / FTR family is fully standalone.)
How do I retrieve the attendance data stored on the device?
Plug a USB flash drive (or an external USB drive) into the recorder's USB port. On-device, choose the report type — all logins, per-employee, or a custom date range — and the recorder writes an Excel file to the drive. Reports include attendance summaries, full attendance registers, late / early-leave tables and holiday / day-off schedules.
What if I forget the admin password on a CTR or FTR recorder?
On CTR and FTR devices you can set a personal admin password — useful because it stops accidental setting changes, but it means there is no factory bypass. If you forget the password and cannot change settings any more, contact HDWR customer service at [email protected] with the serial number and proof of purchase, and we will help you reset it.
Can I set non-standard working hours on a CTR / FTR recorder?
Yes — CTR and FTR devices support custom working-hour schedules per employee or per group. Configure the start / end times, break windows and tolerance directly on-device. (TimeLok recorders do not have this option — they rely on the BeepClock cloud app, which handles scheduling there instead.)
What are the extra coloured cables on CTR10 and CTR12 for?
The additional coloured cables on CTR10 and CTR12 connect the recorder to an electric door lock, so the same unit doubles as an access controller for a specific room. When an authorised employee clocks in, the lock can be released for the configured duration. Wiring instructions are in the device's printed manual; if you don't need access control, simply leave those cables disconnected.
